If you come from vinyl and tend to mix without effects (and without EQ, maybe!) you'll generally prefer serato.
If you like using mixers with effects, or if you come from ableton dj'ing, you'll generally prefer traktor. Both programs have several unique features that sets them apart such a video mixing with Serato DJ or Traktors deep midi mapping.
