Included in this newsletter is the chart which articulates how parents may raise a concern in our school. Other matters can be referred to the Sub School Heads or the Learning Community Leaders directly.
When there is an issue within a learning area, I ask that you contact the individual teacher first, and then if there are continuing issues, contact the Learning Area leader. We are also aware that the recent IT difficulties with the PAT testing caused concern and we apologise and hope to rectify this for the next testing session. We will advise on the date, time and location on the website shortly. In order to support parents, we will demonstrate the use of the Daymap diary later in term one. I am aware that some families struggled with electronic diary. Usage of the parent portal will be increased as the year progresses and will enable parents to communicate with individual teachers. Alternatively your student will be able to give you their password and you can logon on as them in Daymap. If you need a password to access Parent Portal please giving details of your student's name and ID number. I encourage you to visit the Daymap Parent Portal each night, which shows you the assignments set, due dates and work progress. I wish to emphasise that the move to electronic communication is pervasive in society and schools are no different. By the time you receive this newsletter, many parents and students would have experienced formal meetings and activities designed to cue you into the school s culture, routines, traditions and expectations. We try to minimise any confusion with restricting some areas to the year 8 students and to date we have been successful in our transition process. Physically, the middle campus consists of different levels which intersect with each other. The beginning of the year in a new environment is always a challenge, and in our school we understand, notice and support those who might be struggling.
